Are you Ready to Trust Yourself

I once attended a team-building seminar that ended with an exercise in trust. Each participant had to stand in the center of a circle, close their eyes and fall backwards, trusting that the people in the circle would catch them. And we had to trust that we would fall backwards at the right time, when the others were ready to catch us and that they would not let us fall on the ground. It was a difficult thing to do because we had to trust that everyone would play their part at the right time to complete the exercise.

We learn to trust others through our experiences with them. So how do we learn to trust ourselves, to the point that we know that on all levels, every aspect of our life experience is working together to ensure that we do not fall? If we look at our past experiences and the decisions that we have made in those situations, some of us would understandably not trust ourselves to make good decisions in the future. But the past is not necessarily an indicator of the future, and as long as we remember that those decisions reflected who we were and what we knew at that time, we can learn to trust ourselves to make different decisions in the future.

When we trust ourselves we acknowledge our power and ability to create our reality, so that we trust that we are making the best decision possible at every moment in time. What this means is that we are always capable of catching ourselves when we fall, even if we are the reason that we are 'falling'. Sometimes we create situations where we purposefully disrupt our lives just to prove to ourselves that we can trust ourselves to come to our own rescue. If this seems counterproductive, and perhaps it is, it is often our own version of a trust-building exercise. Once we acknowledge our power and learn to trust ourselves, we do not have to do this any longer.

Are you ready to trust yourself, to know that you are perfect in every way, right now, at this very moment? Are you ready to trust that you always make the best decisions that you are capable of, in every situation? Are you ready to trust that you do not need to prove your perfection, capabilities or worth to anyone, including yourself? Trusting yourself acknowledges that you always know what you are doing, even if you aren't always convinced that you do. Move forward with confidence and trust yourself, which is the first step in recognizing and using your spiritual growth and understanding.

Blessings to you all!

The December article is posted on the Uriel Heals website and this month's message is about Putting It All Together. When do we know that we are ready to put our spiritual learning and knowledge into practice in our lives? Wouldn't it be nice to receive a diploma or sign that we were ready to stop learning and start using what we know? We have opportunities to put our spiritual growth into practice every day. Trusting ourselves is the first step in that process. This week's Today's Children article discusses the dangers of labeling Indigos and their behavior. Uriel's message this week focuses on taking the time to pause and reflect. Read the newsletter in Spanish at Zona Mistica. The link is on the Uriel Heals home page.

One Key on My Key Chain
I am moving from one part of the U.S. to another and part of the process of leaving my old home and going towards my new one involved removing the keys that I no longer needed from my key chain. These included my old apartment, mailbox and other keys that pertained to my old life. But I had other keys on my key chain, some that belonged to locks that I no longer owned, opened doors that I no longer needed access to and some that were even a mystery. Once I removed all of the unnecessary keys from my key chain, it contained only one key, my car key. This was all I needed to begin the journey to my new home and begin the next phase of my life.

While I have, over the years, added keys to my key chain, I rarely take any off, afraid of losing keys to locks or doors that I may need one day. So over time, my key chain contains so many keys that it is often difficult to find the keys that I do need. All of the unnecessary keys are a reminder to me of things that was once part of. And perhaps that I need to release. After all, if I don't remember what the key is for, do I really need to keep it?

Having just one key on my key chain is quite liberating and a little odd. Liberating because I do not have any trouble finding the key that I need. And odd because I am, temporarily, without a home and all of the things that keys show that I belong to which were once a foundation of my daily life. Although I know that I will soon put other keys there, including the key to my new home, I will carefully monitor the keys that I keep on my key chain in the future and remove those that are no longer useful or relevant to me or to my life.

How many keys are on your key chain? Do they belong to locks that you no longer have or doors that you no longer need access to? Each key is a symbol of something that you belong to or that belongs to you. What do those symbols mean to you and is that meaning empowering or defeating, full of joy or pain? Take this opportunity to assess whether you need every key on your key chain and remove those that no longer serve you. Feel the peace and liberation when you release, with unconditional love and gratitude, those things that are no longer relevant to your life experience. Replace the keys that you no longer need with new ones that reflect who you are and the reality that you want to create.

Uriel's Message--Pause and Reflect

Take time to pause and reflect as you go through your experiences. When you pause and reflect you do two things-you stop your mind from engaging your emotions and reacting from the memory of karmic experience. And, you allow your inner guidance to have a voice in the choices that you are about to make. When you do not take time to pause and reflect, you act from the past and not from the present moment. Are you afraid that you will miss the opportunity to do or say something if you wait before you take a step or make a decision?

Pause-means to stop what you are doing in terms of your actions, speech and behavior, but also what your mind is doing at that moment in time. You are aware of a small percentage of the thoughts that go through your mind at every moment and unless you take the time to pause, you will be working with thoughts and opinions that you are unaware of. When you pause you empty your mind of all thoughts and allow yourself to simply be in the moment, free of all fear and emotion.

Reflect-means take the time to cease your worry, fear and movement and consider all possibilities and options for your path. Have you asked your intuitive guidance for assistance? You cannot do that when you are operating from the mind, for your mind's chatter will interfere with your intuition. Do you understand the lessons in this situation? Have you considered all possibilities and consequences? Taking the time to reflect also allows you to consider a greater range of options and possibilities for your reality.

Life is not about moving as quickly as possible through each experience; this is a learning journey, not a race. There is no prize available to the person who finishes more quickly than the others. You are not losing any ground when you pause and reflect in every lesson that you encounter; in fact, you are benefiting from the ability to recognize the lesson that you are being given the opportunity to learn. And you can consider all options, those that you are aware of and those that are only available to you when you pause and reflect instead of reacting from emotion and past karmic memories. This week, allow yourself to pause and reflect before reacting. Consider each situation's potential and lessons before making choices and decisions. Your intuitive guidance will lead you in the best direction and you will find peace and joy from your decisions and choices.

Labeling Indigos, Part 2

There is a new generation of children in the world and they are known by many names, including Indigo and Crystal Children, Star Children, Light Children. Whatever name they are known by, they are a generation that we have never seen before and they have special needs, gifts and talents. The Crystal and Indigo children represent the new, higher energetic patterns that are arriving to change the Earth's vibrational frequency. This new series provides information on these children and the wonderful gifts they bring to the world. Along with their special gifts and talents, they also have certain needs and the purpose of this series is to help them and their parents find solutions to these needs so that Indigos and Crystals can do the work that they came here to do.

Last week I wrote about the dangers of labeling Indigo children based on their physical attributes because this narrowed the potential population of Indigo children to certain geographic areas. But there is another, far more widespread use of labeling Indigos that is more troubling, that of labeling them by their behavior. Yes, Indigos have different types of behavior that can be difficult to manage. They can be argumentative, headstrong, stubborn, moody, irritable and have behavior problems, among other things. But they can also be articulate, focused, driven, emotionally sensitive and creative. The difference is the perspective with which they are viewed, how they are labeled and how much we base our willingness to accept them by how well they submit to our expectations of their ability to accept control.

Many years ago, I went to school with a boy who was sent home for having long hair, which was not long by today's standards. He refused to cut his hair, his parents supported his decision and the school retaliated by suspending him. Later, he was readmitted to school but his long hair continued to be a problem. He was a good student, talented musician and very intelligent but his behavior and long hair caused the school system to label him as a 'troublemaker.' And he was treated disrespectfully by his teachers and the school administration as a result of that label. It is not an accident that Indigos are responsible for focusing our attention on the use of behavior-altering drugs to control children in school. But is the problem with the children or the school? Instead of labeling Indigo children as troublemakers in school-and they are not the minority in the classroom-would it be more appropriate to consider the possibility that it is the methods of teaching, educational models and expectations of behavior that need to change? Teaching methods and classroom behavior expectations have changed little in the last 100 years, although ensuing generations of children have changed a great deal. The children born in the past twenty years, both Indigo, Crystal and everything in between, have strong issues with attempts at controlling their behavior. They are not 'uncontrollable,' they simply do not want to be restricted to certain types of behavior and meeting expectations that they may not be in agreement with. This includes the employment, education system and learning environments.

What is the problem, then, the children or the expectations? Based on my experiences, when my children were appropriately challenged and interested in the learning material, they ceased to be a behavior problem in the classroom, without the use of behavior controlling drugs. My experiences with Indigo young adults also showed that when I removed expectations and control from our interactions, I dealt with articulate, interesting and highly creative personalities who had wonderful ideas to share. Rather than focus on how to control Indigo behavior and to categorize this generation as exhibiting behavior problems, perhaps it would be more productive to look at learning and behavior expectations and consider whether we are trying to fit a 'square peg into a round hole'. Are we asking today's children to fit into learning and behavior models that were created more than 100 years ago? Can we allow today's generations the freedom to be who they are and release the old control paradigms that they refuse to acknowledge anyway? Can we work with this energy and the information that it has for us to create new models of behavior and expectation in the classroom and in society in general? Are we willing, as parents, educators and employers, to acknowledge that we must change how we view this energy? Finally, are we willing to stop labeling those who are different or who pose a challenge to our belief systems and consider that maybe they have a point that should be considered?
