This week's messages
Love and Happiness
We look to many different sources to fill our desire to
be happy. And one of them is love. Being loved and
being in love is, we believe, all we need to make us
happy. So we search for love and when we don't find it
or when it turns out to be less than what we expected
we feel that we have lost our happiness. But what we
are looking for is not necessarily love, it is the
connection to the happiness that we believe it will
bring us.
We seek happiness through romantic love, but also
through all of the other types of relationships that we
can have in our lives, including our friends, family and
social connections. Each of these has their own kind of
love and each of them has the potential to make us
happy. But they can only make us happy when we are
already happy with ourselves.
Each time we look for a relationship to bring us
something that we feel we are missing, including
happiness, we find someone who mirrors our issues to
us. So if we are unhappy, we find an unhappy person.
If we are needy, they will be needy too. If we don't
love ourselves, we will find someone who can't love us
because they don't love themselves either. We can find
happiness in love but only when we start with being
happy with who we are.
The real reason we seek happiness from love, though,
is because we want a reminder that we are worthy,
deserving of love, valuable and that someone will love
us. We know that we are loved beyond measure by the
Universe but in the material world, that is not always
enough. When we love and appreciate ourselves, we
will connect with someone who will mirror that to us
and then we will have happiness and joy in our lives.

Who Do You Talk About?
Many years ago I worked with a woman who was very
unpleasant and treated everyone badly. She was also
having an affair with my manager and everyone in the
office knew about it. I attended a party with several
people from work and the conversation turned to the
woman and the affair. We discussed it at length in our
group and with people at the party. The next day, she
called me into an empty office and told me that she
had been told about the conversation and let me know
how displeased she was with it. Although I was not the
only person who openly discussed the situation at the
party, I had contributed my share. I apologized and
from that day forward, I never talked about anyone
again.
We talk about people for many reasons and if they are
unpleasant, we have a lot to talk about. Whether it is
our difficult manager, a friend, partner or co-worker,
when we are frustrated with someone we look for an
outlet to vent our feelings. But sometimes those words
can come back to us in rather unpleasant ways. Are we
right or wrong? We're right in that we have to express
our feelings but we are wrong if our words are
judgmental or critical.
When we are dealing with an unpleasant person we
have a choice as to how we connect with them. Even
if we feel that we have no control over the situation,
we do have control over how we respond to it. And, as
I found out, talking about someone does not solving
anything and can create a bigger problem. When we
remember that each of our experiences has a lesson for
us we can step back and look at why we are reacting
the way we do, what we want the outcome to be and
why we feel powerless to face whatever is in front of
us.
It is tempting to talk about another person, especially if
their behavior is upsetting or they present challenges
to us. We want to be validated by others, to hear that
we are right and they are wrong, to know that
someone agrees with us about the situation. But we
are also being critical and judgmental and when we put
that kind of energy out, it comes back to us. And at
this time, it will come back fairly quickly. Rather than
yield to the temptation to talk about someone, we can
put our energy to better use by identifying the lesson,
learning it and moving on with our lives, remembering
that everyone in our life is a teacher for us and we for
them.

Uriel's Message-Working with Universal Law
The Universe is governed by certain laws that are
unchangeable. When you work with these laws or
principles you are in control of your reality and can
manifest miracles. When you work against these laws
or try to manipulate them you may feel that everything
in your life is difficult and simply does not work. The
Universal laws govern how energy moves and they are
very simple and once you understand them, you can
use them to your benefit.
The basic laws govern how you focus your own energy.
Whatever you put out into the Universe comes back to
you multiplied. Your every thought and word moves the
energy in your life. If it is not moving in the direction
you wish, you are the source of the movement. A shift
in your perspective or focus will move the energy in
another direction. Asking without belief and trust will
manifest your lack of belief and trust and not what you
desire. You must ask and know that Universal law
responds to your intention and trust and will bring you
what you ask for when you know that it is yours simply
because you want it.
There is always balance in the Universe, no matter how
unbalanced your life may seem to be. But the Universe
works with you and not for you. When you cannot find
joy in your life, it will not bring you joy. If you cannot
see yourself with abundance, it will not bring you
abundance. If you do not appreciate and love yourself,
it will not bring you appreciation. You can manifest
anything your heart desires by working with Universal
laws but you will only receive as much as you are
willing to give.
Universal law will respond to how you decide to move
the energy in your life. And it will manifest according to
your thoughts and how you are using your power. You
do not have insignificant thoughts or desires. Every
aspect of your life is governed by the choices you
make and shifting your choices will create a new and
different outcome. Your thoughts of abundance will
manifest as quickly as your thoughts of lack. Your fears
will manifest as easily as your thoughts of unconditional
love. Working with Universal law and remembering that
you are powerful will help you create the life of your
dreams and bring you the joy, peace, abundance and
unconditional love that you desire.

Today's Children--What's Up With Indigo Women?
I find it interesting how Indigo women have changed
how the world perceives women. No longer the 'weaker'
sex, Indigo women are strong, independent, self-reliant
and powerful. They don't wait for a man to do things
for them; they can do things for themselves. They are
intelligent, resourceful and not afraid of anything. And
yet, many of them are confused, uncertain and
struggle with showing vulnerability. They can also have
very unbalanced lives as they juggle their many
obligations and interests. Many have either never
married or married young and are now divorced. And
many struggle with finding satisfying romantic
relationships.
Many adult Indigos, men and women, who are now in
their 40s and 50s had difficult relationships with their
parents. Indigo women often had challenging
relationships with their mothers in which they were
criticized and judged or simply were not accepted for
who they were. They also had difficult relationships
with their fathers who were either absent or
emotionally unavailable. When they became adults, this
manifested in several ways-they either worked hard to
become successful and prove their mother wrong or
they married young to be a better parent than their
mothers. Some women did both and despite the
challenges and trials of single parenthood, were
successful in raising their children and developing a
career.
Indigo woman are among the first generation of women
to be focused on meeting their needs instead of
ignoring them or waiting for someone to show up and
take care of them. There is a certain amount of guilt
that they have to work through as they balance what
they want to do with what they are expected to do.
And they are in unfamiliar territory as they have few
role models to let them know that they are on the right
track, doing the right thing in the right way. They also
can have little support from their family as they are the
one who is 'different'. My mother used to ask me why I
had to be so difficult and she thought that simply
because I was independent and often challenged her
authority.
It is not easy to be an Indigo woman because they are
pioneers in a world that is not quite ready for them.
They have a hard time finding friends who understand
their independence and strength. And that also goes
for romance. Many men find Indigo women challenging
and have trouble knowing how to respond to them.
Some men find their independence refreshing; others
find it difficult and avoid it. But Indigo women have to
be who they are and for many who are between
relationships at this time, it means learning to be
powerful, to live the life that they want to live and to
be who they are without guilt or the need for approval
from others. It is not always easy to be powerful and
independent, but it is what Indigo women do best.
