Accepting the Unacceptable
When my father was 4 years old his mother placed him
in an orphanage. Three years later he was adopted by
a young couple who wanted him so much that they had
waited for him to be available for adoption. He grew up
on a farm surrounded by a large family of aunts, uncles
and cousins who loved and accepted him as part of the
family. When he was ready to leave home he had the
option of going to medical school but he chose another
path. He married and had children and was an aloof and
distant parent who could not connect emotionally with
his wife or children. He died at the age of 52 and his
last words to me were that he was sorry for not being
a better parent and that he was very proud of me and
his other children.
My father never learned why he was placed in that
orphanage and never tried to find his birth family.
Throughout his life he was a bitter and sad person who
was not able to accept what he thought of as
unacceptable, that his mother had abandoned him. And
this became the theme of his life, that he was never
good enough or deserving of life's blessings. I have
often wondered how different his life would have been
had he been able to accept what 'is' and to move on.
Would that have allowed him to make different life
choices? Would he have been a happier person had he
not been haunted, every day, by his memory of the
unacceptable? His situation was not unique as at that
time, many parents were forced to place their children
in public care if they could not care for them. A friend
of mine, now an adult, remembers living in an
orphanage for two years, along with her three siblings,
placed there by her father after her mother died
suddenly.
We have all had the experience of the unacceptable in
our lives, events that are so devastating, so difficult
and painful that we cannot possibly imagine why they
could have happened to us or even why the Universe
would have allowed them to happen. Here is our
opportunity to learn acceptance of what is, to
acknowledge what happened without judgment,
understanding that it was part of our soul's plan for our
spiritual journey. When we judge these events,
believing that they are bad, unfair, terrible or even
devastating, we transfer our anger at the situation into
what we believe about them. And, like my father, our
emotional attachments and anger can become the
driving force in our lives, removing our ability to ever
accept the unacceptable and move on.
Our life circumstances can take cruel and unkind twists
but it is our ability to accept that there is a time and
place for everything and that everything has a purpose
that provides us with the understanding that we need
to get through these situations. Our ability to do that
prevents them from becoming the overriding influence
on our lives, something I wish that my father could
have known. A friend of mine says 'nothing is lost in the
eyes of God' and this holds true for every life situation.
In the eyes of the Creator, nothing is ever without
value and nothing is ever done to purposefully harm us.
Our mission, then, is to accept, without judgment, the
unacceptable, acknowledge 'what is' and use the
experience to make life better for ourselves and for
others.

The Power of One
Rosa Parks died last week. AS an African American
woman, she was forced to live under the segregation
laws that determined where a person could sit on a
bus, eat a meal or even drink from a public water
fountain, based on the color of their skin. Fifty years
ago her simple act of refusing to give her seat on the
bus to a white man, which the law required her to do,
began the civil rights movement that eventually
overturned those laws. Rosa parks could have gone to
prison for violating the segregation laws and was
actually arrested and detained by the police. But the
stage had been set, the time was right and one
person's act of defiance was all it took to galvanize
millions of others into action.
There are many freedoms and liberties that we take for
granted, not realizing that they are the result of the
act of a single person. Ghandi was able to create a
movement that peacefully persuade the British to leave
India, and more recently, Cindy Sheehan has brought
the attention of millions of Americans to other aspects
of the war in Iraq. Although we often feel powerless to
change the system or the injustices that we see
around us, it only takes one person to lead others
through the process of change when the time for
change is at hand
Peace, unconditional love and acknowledging our
connection with the Source are what all of humanity
now has an opportunity to move into. How many people
will it take to galvanize others into understanding and
action? It only takes one person to open the door to an
idea whose time has come. As we move through the
Shift, we are the force that will help others who are
often waiting for someone that they can follow to
speak their truth and find their path. We may be one
person, but each one of us is powerful enough to effect
change. The process may be subtle and could involve a
discussion, action or something that we write and
publish. In that moment, we may allow someone else to
find the courage to act or speak and to move forward
with a secret goal. That is why it is so important that
at this time we set aside our doubts and fears and do
what we are drawn to, whether it's writing, speaking,
or changing careers so that we can do the work that
we are passionate about.
Each one of us has the power of one available to us,
when we can use it without fear. Like Rosa Parks, we
can be the spark that creates the change that we wish
will happen. And sometimes it involves a situation that
we step into innocently, unaware that we will be the
force that opens the door to change. As long as we
speak our truth and walk our path without fear, we will
make ourselves available to do the work that we came
here to do. And in so doing, we work with the Shift
energy as it opens the door to unconditional love,
peace and a reconnection to the Source for all of
humanity. We may not have to break a law, even one
that is unfair. The change we initiate may affect one
person, an entire culture or the world. But each change
is important and when its time comes, we need to be
ready to play our role in the process remembering that
we have the power of one available to us at all times.

Uriel's Message--Know Your Life Purpose
There is nothing insignificant in the Universe. Every
person has a purpose, every thought has an effect,
every thing in the Universe has a unique reason for
being at a certain place at a specific moment in time.
In the grand context of life, everything has meaning
and value. So if you consider yourself to be a small or
even insignificant part of the grand game of life,
reconsider this opinion. You are just as valuable and
meaningful as every other thing in the Universe.
Because you, like everything else, has purpose that you
fulfill every day, with everything that you do.
Once you are able to free yourselves of the judgments
and expectations of others, you can discover your
spiritual purpose and it can be linked closely to what
you do in the material world. Perhaps your spiritual
purpose is to provide healing for others and so you
become a physician, nurse or even a hospice worker. If
you desire to do more spiritual work, you may see this
as a failure or an inconsistency with what you really
want to do. However, the healing energy that you give
to others is being delivered in the context that they
can receive it. If you were working in a more spiritual
context, you would not be able to reach as many
people, or interact with those that you need to serve.
There are no accidents and you are always in the place
that you need to be, so that those who need to benefit
from your gifts can do so.
Your purpose, like everything else on your spiritual
journey, will change as you evolve spiritually. Part of
your life purpose is to learn your spiritual lessons and as
you fulfill that part of your journey other avenues of
learning will open to you, which will allow you to
express your higher vibrations and spiritual learning and
evolution. This is why it is so important to learn to let
go of those things which no longer serve you, as they
have fulfilled their purpose in your lives, which may be
to learn a lesson, experience some aspect of life or to
heal. Letting things go acknowledges that they have
fulfilled their purpose with you and you with them and
you are free to move into situations that allow you to
fulfill your purpose on the next stage of your journey.
If you do not understand your purpose in the situation
that you are in, think about what you do, who you
interact with and what services you provide to others.
Do others tell you that you make a difference in their
lives? Do you notice that people appreciate your
efforts? Are you able to touch others' lives, even in
small ways? Every person has a purpose and each one
is very important. This week examine what you do
during the course of your day to discover the purpose
in your life. Do not judge it as important or unimportant
compared to what others do. Know that you are
fulfilling your purpose with everything that you do. And
when the purpose for that part of your life is complete,
you will find other doors to go through that will allow
you to express your purpose in new and different ways.
Embrace the changes and opportunities that come, for
they are what delivers your purpose to you. Remember
that you are an important part of the Universal flow,
that your purpose is being fulfilled with everything that
you do and you are always doing the right thing, at the
right time, on each step of your journey.

Indigos and Home Schooling
There is a new generation of children in the world and
they are known by many names, including Indigo and
Crystal Children, Star Children, Light Children. Whatever
name they are known by, they are a generation that
we have never seen before and they have special
needs, gifts and talents. The Crystal and Indigo
children represent the new, higher energetic patterns
that are arriving to change the Earth's vibrational
frequency.This new series provides information on
these children and the wonderful gifts they bring to the
world. Along with their special gifts and talents, they
also have certain needs and the purpose of this series
is to help them and their parents find solutions to these
needs so that Indigos and Crystals can do the work
that they came here to do.
There was a twenty percent increase in the number of
U.S. children who were home schooled by their parents
last year and the number is expected to increase again
in 2006. Parents choose to educate their children at
home for a number of reasons that include the ability to
offer a more controlled curriculum where children can
advance at their own rate of learning. Schools are
much different than they were when I was a student-I
never had to go through a metal detector or have drug-
sniffing dogs search my locker. Violence was unheard of
and no one carried knives or guns. But times have
changed and this is what our children have to deal with
in school today. And it is another reason that parents
choose to teach their children at home.
Children who do not do well in the regulated, rule-
driven school environment tend to do very well when
schooled at home. And those who have behavioral
problems at school and are labeled as 'problem children'
perform differently when they are not under pressure
from the education system and their peers. This does
not mean that every parent should educate their
children at home, but those parents that make the
decision to do so realize many benefits from their
efforts. Many Indigos are forcing this change because
the individualized attention and freedom that home
schooling offers is exactly what they need, at least
until changes are made to the education systems.
As the Crystal generation reaches school age, many of
their parents will choose home schooling for their
educational needs. The gentle Crystal energy does not
have the Indigos' mission to compel change and they
simply will not perform as expected under pressure.
Instead, they shut down and refuse to participate until
what they need is available to them. Fortunately, the
home schooling tools available to parents are quite
sophisticated and can to meet the needs of both
Indigos and Crystals. The decision to home school is a
personal one that each parent must make within the
context of their abilities, availability and their children's
needs. As a parent of grown Indigos, I realize that my
children would have benefited greatly from home
schooling and may have been more interested in school
if the curriculum had been more geared to their needs
and the pressure from teachers and students had not
been something that they had to deal with. If you
decide to home school your children, there are many
wonderful resources available to you and your children
will probably thrive under the care and attention that
they receive from you. Perhaps home schooling will be
the wave of the future and will evolve into a different
type of school system that Indigo and Crystal children
can thrive in.
