Into the Void
When we begin making changes in our lives, such as
breaking our patterns, we step out of roles that are
familiar to us and to those around us. So we behave,
think and act differently. This is not a good thing or a
bad thing, it just is. It's our choice to do things
differently and after all, it is our reality that we are
creating. Dealing with resistance from those who have
been comfortable with the way we used to behave can
be challenging but so can dealing with our own
resistance. Because when we change our patterns we
remove the familiar from our own lives. And we are left
with the void, a place where nothing (or no-thing)
exists.
What we do with the void and how we fill it determines
whether or not our attempts to change our patterns
will be successful. If we are not aware of the void's
presence, we will change our patterns for a little while
and then revert to our previous way of doing things.
What is the void? It is that place where nothing that is
real, concrete or familiar to us exists. And we don't like
being there-it's scary and uncertain. It is part of our
human nature to avoid 'emptiness' and try to fill it with
something. Evidence of this is all around us. To prove it
to yourself, try this little experiment. The next time
you're in your car stopped at a traffic light, maintain a
greater distance from the person in front of you than
you normally would. Wait for a minute or so and then
move closer to them. Watch what happens-the cars
behind you will all move up as well. Why? Because
they're filling that empty space, filling the void. We all
do it, all of the time.
As we decide on how we are going to break our
patterns, we must think about what we are going to do
instead. If our focus is on creating a more harmonious
relationship with a critical person in our lives, then we
must think about what we will do instead now that is
different from what we did in the past. Even though we
are breaking our patterns, they will probably continue
to treat us in the same way. How will we respond to
them? Will we be able to maintain our focus on our
intention? Are we prepared for their resistance? And if
the void that is created means that we lose their
presence in our lives, can we be comfortable with being
without them? Are we prepared for the void to contain
some loneliness?
When we are aware of the void and how we react to it
from a human perspective, we can plan for it. It is not
enough to say that we are going to break our patterns;
we have to follow that with what we are going o do
instead. And sometimes facing the void can be too
difficult; so difficult, in fact, that it can stop us in our
tracks. But that's OK. Breaking patterns is a big step
and if the prospect of the void becomes too much of a
challenge, we can stop and then start again later,
when we're more prepared, we feel stronger and have a
little more spiritual knowledge and understanding. As we
move through this spiritual journey, we have to
remember that it's not a race, no one is judging us and
we answer only to ourselves for our progress, or lack of
it. If you're facing the void as you consider breaking
your patterns, draw up a plan of what you're going to
do 'instead.' Then move forward with confidence
through the void as you create a new path for your life.

Blessings to you all!
The June article is posted on
the Uriel Heals website and this month's message is is
all about our Breaking the Patterns. In this week's
article we look at the 'void,' that place where nothing
exists. When we break our patterns, we step into the
void and what we do when we're there can determine
whether we can successfully break our patterns.

A Moment of Inspiration
A few years ago, in a moment of inspiration, I decided
to put laminate flooring in my living room. So I bought
the flooring and planned a weekend of home
improvement. I pulled up the carpet on a Friday night
and began to work on Saturday morning. After the first
few hours I knew that I was in for a real challenge. The
job turned out to be much more difficult than I had
imagined and now I had to finish it. And, since I had
done the living room, I was going to have to also do
the dining room and kitchen. I began to regret that I
had ever started the project. By the time I finished
that weekend's work, I could barely move my arms and
my back felt like I had fallen off of a truck. But, the
floor looked beautiful. My moment of inspiration took a
huge amount of effort and led to even more work for
me-was there something else behind it?
We can do many things in a moment of inspiration.
Some, like my home improvement project, can become
much more challenging than they appear at first and
lead to other things. Others, such as a decision to start
or end a relationship, can create huge changes in our
lives. We have to remember that what we do in a
moment of inspiration is just that, a decision that we
make in that moment, under those circumstances and
within the mindset that we held at that time. And we
must remember that when, at a later point, we ponder
our decision and think 'what was I thinking?'
Often our moments of inspiration lead to the things that
we do without thinking ahead. We get so caught up in
that moment that we do not stop to think things
through or wonder whether what we are doing is in our
best interest. Moments of inspiration often have very
deep seated causes that we do not consider. In my
example, did I want a new floor, or a new home? When
we begin a relationship in a moment of inspiration, are
we really 'into' that person or just lonely? If we end a
relationship are we dissatisfied with them, or with
ourselves?
Our moments of inspiration can open our eyes to what
we are really thinking and make us aware of our
deepest motivations, fears and desires. It is at that
moment in time when we are stepping into that space
of total potential, creativity and fearlessness that we
can become aware of what we really want. If we can
pause briefly and ask ourselves 'why do I want this'
then we can make decisions can be less disruptive or
have different consequences. It is sometimes difficult
to 'undo' what we do in a moment of inspiration and we
can remove some of the challenges from our lives if we
just pause to ask ourselves if there is another reason
for what we're doing, one that we are unaware of.
Understanding our true motivations is what allows our
moments of inspiration to be truly inspired and lead us
to more joy, peace and into the Universal flow where
life is effortless.

Uriel's Message
The journey towards spiritual enlightenment has been
described as a battle between the ego and the spirit,
where one will eventually have dominion over the other.
That is perhaps why this journey is so difficult for you,
because you are struggle between the material and the
spiritual, where you must give up something in order to
gain something else. And because the ego does not
want to lose, the struggle will continue under these
conditions. The ego will never allow itself to be
dominated and spirit does not want to dominate. The
true nature of this process is to create balance
between the two energies so that they learn to work in
harmony.
The ego is what makes you human. Without the ego,
you would not be able to live in this world because it is
the ego that creates your experience of life. But the
ego is like an unruly child, always seeking what it
wants and always changing the focus of its intent.
Spirit is like a doting parent, allowing the child the
freedom to act, but protecting it from harm. The ego,
like a child, believes that Spirit simply wants to
dominate it and prevent it from doing what it wants to
do. Thus there is a battle, much like what parents
experience with their children.
The purpose of the Shift is to teach you where your
ego's unchecked desires take you off of your path and
how you can learn to work with it to create a balance
between the ego's desires and your spiritual nature.
This teaching is accomplished through the lessons that
you experience. As you learn from your lessons, you
move closer to a state of balance. When this balance is
created, you step into the Universal flow and learn how
to work with the energy around you, instead of against
it. The ego, without Spirit, has no understanding of
peace, joy or unconditional love. Alone, it has no ability
to learn, grow or create. It is the combination of Spirit
and ego, working in harmony, which allows you to move
forward with grace, in complete faith and trust, and
create miracles.
The disharmony in the world today is an example of the
struggle between Spirit and the ego. Those who wish
to keep you in the darkness are aware of the nature of
this struggle and they do what is necessary to remind
you that there is not enough, you must be afraid of
others and that peace is not possible without war. As
each individual learns to find balance between Spirit
and ego you help raise the consciousness of the world
so that your success in this effort allows everyone
around you to also be successful. You will be able to
create a safe space for the ego while allowing Spirit to
guide you, for that is its purpose. You are here to heal
karma and to experience life and you do that through
the ego and Spirit. When they work in balance, you can
live a life free from karma, in perfect joy, peace and
harmony. Remember that each individual's life
experience is mirrored in the world around them. Work
towards creating that balance in your life and you will
see it reflected in a world that can finally be at peace.

Today's Children-Indigos and Discipline
The new article on today's children is now available on
the website. This generation is known by
many names, including Indigo and Crystal Children, Star
Children, Light Children. Whatever name they are known
by, they are a generation that we have never seen
before and they have special needs, gifts and talents.
The Crystal and Indigo children represent the new,
higher energetic patterns that are arriving to change
the Earth's vibrational frequency. This new series
provides information on these children and the
wonderful gifts they bring to the world.
The philosophy around how children should be
disciplined changes with each generation. Thankfully,
the days of beating children have passed and methods
of discipline are more just and less severe. But new
generations, such as Indigos and Crystals, force us to
look again at how we discipline our children and why.
The Indigos are taking parents to task on this issue
because no amount of threats will force an Indigo to do
what they do not want to do. And they cannot be
disciplined through severe methods, as they simply will
not cooperate and the result will only damage them
spiritually and emotionally. So how can we maintain
order in our homes and still discipline these children
when they need it?
Discipline is how parents get their children to behave in
a certain way. While some discipline is necessary, are
we using it to get children to act in ways that are
acceptable to us? Do we use it to punish our children or
to guide them towards better behavior? Rigid discipline
is not an effective way of dealing with Indigos, who
often act out their issues. Without conscious
awareness of what they are trying to tell us, we could
be reacting to their behavior without the awareness
that there may be something else going on. Indigos
always want to know why things are done the way
they are. If you want an Indigo to do something, they
must understand what it is and why it needs to be
done. And not just done, but also done in that
particular way. As parents, we often don't have time to
give children lengthy explanations about our child
rearing philosophy and can have an issue with why we
need to explain it to our children. But we don't have to
go to those lengths. The key to effectively disciplining
an Indigo child is to be consistent-something cannot
be OK one day and forbidden the next. They have long
memories and a strong sense of justice. If you are not
consistent with them, you will have more than one
problem on your hands.
Depending on their age, different methods of discipline
will work with different kinds of Indigo children. Younger
Indigos work best with help, so if you want them to
clean their room, do it with them, but don't wait until it
takes all day. Make it a daily ritual, teaching them how
to do the job in five minutes. Older Indigos like to be
helpful, but not if they have the impression that they're
doing all the work while no one else contributes. Again,
we must remember that they have a strong sense of
justice and will rebel if they feel that they are being
treated unfairly. And they are very creative. Giving
them some freedom to do things their way will make
them much more cooperative. After all, do you simply
want the task done or do you want it done 'your' way?
An Indigo will have no qualms about telling you that if
you want something done 'your' way you should do it
yourself. We must remember that these are highly
evolved children, who don't have the same beliefs that
we do. While a certain amount of discipline is necessary
to maintain order, looking at that process from a more
enlightened perspective will help us to work with their
energy. They will not conform, so it is useless to make
them do that. Instead, we need to encourage, support
and teach them, using discipline as a tool to guide and
not punish, so that they can maintain their power and
spiritual integrity.
