Choices and Destiny
Our lives have a pre-determined path, which we call
destiny. Many people believe that their destiny is
something that they cannot change. They have a path
and it is set in stone. To some extent that is true-if it
was their destiny to be born in Kansas and live on a
farm, for example, then they are born in Kansas and live
on a farm. But their destiny is not necessarily to be a
farmer. They can take the knowledge that they gained
on a farm and use it in many other ways. The Shift in
energy is allowing us to choose our paths and to not be
limited by the expectations of others. Even fifty years
ago, a man was expected to follow in his father's
footsteps, taking on whatever profession his father
followed. And a woman was expected to follow her
mother's example by being a mother and housewife.
While that has changed in a material sense-we now
make our own choices about what we will do for a
living, in a spiritual sense, we are still constrained by
the karma that we carry, which creates our destiny.
Our karma, the emotional and spiritual debts that we
have with others, drives many of our life choices. It is
responsible for the relationships that we choose, where
we live and work and the level of success and
happiness that we allow ourselves to enjoy. Karma
represents the unresolved issues that we were born to
heal and we are then led to interact with the people
with whom these karmic debts exist. Without spiritual
knowledge and understanding, these can feel like 'dates
with destiny,' where, no matter what we do, we are
always faced with the same life situations, interacting
with the same kinds of people, dealing with the same
emotional issues. In many ways, this is our destiny at
work but now there is another option available to us, to
heal our karma and change our destiny.
Once we accept the Shift energy, we are willing to
view our lives from a different perspective and to use
our karmic interactions as vehicles of healing, instead
of creating additional karma. As our spiritual knowledge
and understanding increases, thereby raising our
vibrations, we step into new worlds of possibilities,
where our karmic debts no longer exist. Then we can
change our destiny. Of course, changing the course of
our destiny brings with it a host of decisions that we
have to make about the people and situations in our
lives, but we are empowered to make those decisions
without creating additional karma for ourselves. That is
one of the blessings of the Shift.
The fear, hatred, poverty and other problems that are
present in the world today exist because of karmic
debts between individuals, cultures and
nations. Once we are willing to heal our karma, we
change the destiny of our own lives, as well as the
lives of those around us. It only takes one person to
begin that cycle and each person that does creates an
exponential benefit for humanity. This week, consider
how you believe destiny works in your life. Do you think
that your life path is already set for you and cannot be
changed? Know that it is not and use that knowledge
to begin to assess where you wish to heal karma. Then,
allow yourself to forgive your karmic debts with others
and know that by doing so, you are changing your
destiny and stepping into a new world.

Embrace Your Self
So often I hear during consultations with clients, 'I
would love to do that, but" and often what follows
is 'I can't,' or 'I don't know how' or 'that will never
happen.' I remind clients that their thoughts and
speech determine their reality so if that is what they
are saying, either to themselves or out loud, then they
are right. Whatever they would 'love' to do will never
happen because they are not creating the energy for it
to happen. In fact, they are unconsciously doing
everything that they can to ensure that it doesn't
happen. And they do that for many reasons-a critical
or judgmental parent, a history of things not working
out, or a fear of change. But whatever the reason, if
we want things to change we have to embrace our
Self, knowing that whatever that still, small voice
within is drawing us to is right for us.
We are taught that we should consider what is good for
everyone before we meet our own needs. After all,
putting our needs first is being 'self-ish.' But is that a
bad thing? Is it more important to make everyone else
happy or to take care of our own happiness? When we
understand that people accept the level of
joy, peace and love in their lives that they are able to
tolerate and believe that they deserve, then we can
realize that putting our own Self and needs aside for
others accomplishes little, except to delay our own
happiness. If we are surrounded by miserably unhappy
people, whose fault is it that they are unhappy, or that
we are with them?
We cannot assume responsibility for others' happiness,
just as we are powerless to change others' lives. What
we can do is embrace our Self, finding our own source
of joy and happiness and doing the things that will
allow that energy to manifest in and around us. Then
the unhappy people around us have a choice-they can
either follow our example or they can move on. As the
saying goes, 'misery loves company' and unhappy
people enjoy being around each other because they
share a common theme. What you will find is that as
you embrace your Self, you will lose old friends and
make new ones. This is a natural process of growth and
whatever you lose is replaced by something that
matches your new vibrations.
Once you learn to embrace your Self, you find that the
old excuses do not work for you any more. What was
once barely tolerable is now totally unacceptable. What
are you going to do about it? That still, small voice will
get louder and louder until you turn your focus to what
makes you happy. Is it teaching, writing, working with
children, a change of career or lifestyle? These are not
random thoughts, they are your Higher Self telling you
where your passion lies. Once you learn to listen to this
voice you will lose that feeling of 'spinning your wheels'
or wasting your time with activities and people who do
not feed your soul or bring you joy. The Self operates
from a position of pure unconditional love and joy and
its purpose is to remind you that this is why you are
here, to live full lives in continuous and constant joy.
This week, take some time to hear what your still, small
voice is telling you. What is your passion and how can
you follow it? Then begin to turn your focus in that
direction. Once you are willing, the doors will open so
that your passion becomes your reality.

Uriel's Message
The first spark of spiritual awareness is hope, for it is
hope that keeps humanity moving forward in its quest
for peace and joy. No matter how bad things seem,
hope is what allows you to rise and face a new day,
with the belief that any situation can get better. Many
people today have lost hope and live in fear. Their lives
have become a series of events of varying degrees of
difficulty from which they believe they will never
escape. They have become wanderers in their own
lives, moving from one experience to the next, blindly
accepting what they are faced with and not feeling
capable of changing any of it.
The mindless materialism that many people are engaged
in is one sign of this loss of hope. These people believe
that collecting material objects gives them a sense of
stability, of permanence and of their physical presence.
Instead, it serves as a sign to them that they have a
fear of lack which causes them to believe that by
constantly adding more material items, they will
eventually have enough so that they no longer have to
be afraid. Materialism is also an indication of
powerlessness, as its focus is on 'having' instead of
on 'being,' requiring physical validation of one's value.
When you are confident in your personal power, you no
longer require material objects to validate your
presence or to be used as a symbol of success. You
know that your personal power is intact, no matter how
little you have in terms of material items, for when one
loses hope, one also loses power.
Each person has an unlimited source of personal power,
which they can use to change any of their life
circumstances. But that personal power has a spiritual,
not a material, source. The prevalence of fear in
today's world comes from the loss of hope and with it,
loss of power. If societies are powerless it is because
they are also without hope. They cannot see the light,
much less connect to it. They have allowed their focus
to turn from the inner self to the outer being, which is
in conflict with the soul's nature. This creates a power
play between the ego and the Higher Self that the ego
cannot win. So the person begins to feel powerless
because they can never satisfy the ego's desire to
overcome the Spirit. It is an endless cycle that has
played out over millennia of human existence, creating
a sense of hopelessness in the face of a loss of power.
And now it is changing.
Lightworkers all over the world are being energized,
awakened and encouraged to begin their teaching and
healing work, while there is still a spark of hope in
humanity. The purpose of their work is to kindle that
spark until it becomes a burning flame, allowing people
to turn their hope into faith and understanding and to
reconnect with their personal power. This work will be
accomplished on an individual and a global scale. Each
teacher has an audience and each message is
important. The time for this to occur is now, as the
Shift energy is challenging so much of humanity and
opening them up to the possibility of other ways of
being. Hope is the Universe's gift to humanity and as
long as the spark of hope exists, there is still a
connection to the Source. Do not focus on the doom
and gloom prophecies of the end days, for that
scenario is constantly changing. Instead, focus on
what you can do to, as teachers and healers, to turn
humanity's hope into faith and create a global
reconnection to the Source, for the benefit of all.

Today's Children-Challenging the Indigo Child
The new article on today's children is now available on
the website. This generation is known by
many names, including Indigo and Crystal Children, Star
Children, Light Children. Whatever name they are known
by, they are a generation that we have never seen
before and they have special needs, gifts and talents.
The Crystal and Indigo children represent the new,
higher energetic patterns that are arriving to change
the Earth's vibrational frequency.This new series
provides information on these children and the
wonderful gifts they bring to the world.
Despite the fact that many Indigo children are
extremely intelligent, they do not do well in school.
They are labeled as difficult or underachievers, labels
which can cause them to believe that they are not as
smart as other children. The problem is that Indigo
children are not challenged in today's public school
systems. These systems, many which continue to use
the teaching models from Charles Dickens' days, focus
on learning by repetition. Indigo children are experiential
learners-they learn by doing, by using their physical
senses. They also learn intuitively and many are able to
learn just what they believe they need to from lessons
through their intuition, so they don't study because
they find it unnecessary. Then they are surprised when
they fail a test but it doesn't bother them nearly as
much as it does their parents or teachers!
The upsurge in home schooling is not surprising, given
that most home schooling is experiential-instead of
learning about sea mammals, home schooled children
can go and study them at the local zoo. To study
plants they can plant a garden. This is the way that
Indigos learn best, but it simply does not fit into the
model the school systems implement to control learning.
While I am not attempting to promote home schooling,
which I did not do with my own children, I did watch
my Indigo children suffer through the public school
system because they were bored with the teaching
style and the learning material. And my Indigo son was
labeled ADD, ADHD, and learning disabled because he
could not retain the material taught in class. He did
very well in the learning disabled program because the
learning was much more experiential and he had a lot of
attention from the teacher.
Indigo children will perform better in school if they are
provided with opportunities to experience what they
are learning and are guided through that learning
experience. For example, if you tell an Indigo to go to
their room and do their homework, they will do
everything else in their room but their homework. And if
your child is ADD or ADHD, that goes double. They
simply cannot apply themselves to tasks that they
either have no interest in or see no value in. However,
if you help them with their homework, give them
opportunities to experience what they are learning and
apply their work to something that they are interested
in, the depth of their understanding and ability to grasp
and remember concepts will surprise you. Challenging
the Indigo child simply requires that we let them learn
in ways that they can, not in ways that are most
convenient to the school systems. For now, this task
will fall on the parents, who also need to put pressure
on the schools to modify their programs to fit the needs
of this new generation of children. While they may be a
minority for now, they will be much more numerous in
the years to come and they will demand access to
education that is beneficial and useful to them, instead
of having to compromise their needs to highly
structured and inflexible school administrations. The
challenge is on the parents and for the Indigos, who will
soon become parents, to not lose sight of their vision,
to create schools that are 'friendly' to the students
they teach.
