The Energy of the Present Moment
When we begin to work with universal energy we are
learning as we go. It has taken lifetimes for many of
us to be in a position where we feel and know our
power. And we can expect to make mistakes until we
fully understand how we do and can control every
aspect of our reality. So when we create what we don't
want, such as poverty, pain or difficulty, we are using
our power to work with the universal energy, in the
same way that we do to create the things that we do
want. And, we could be using this energy to re-create
the past.
Although we look at ourselves in terms of the past,
present and future, the universe only exists in the
present moment. The only way that we can create a
repeat of what we have experienced before is when
we are focused on the past. We may not even be
aware that we are directing our power to create
something that has already happened for us, and that
we probably don't want to create again. But unless we
live in the present moment, in the 'now', all of the time,
we risk repeating the past when we ask for what we
want.
We are in danger of re-creating the past for those
experiences that we regret, feel we could have made
better decisions at or wish had turned out differently.
We may be unaware that all of the energy that we are
focusing in these areas is literally bringing them into
our present reality. And we may have an opportunity to
repeat the experience, and the same outcomes, until
we learn to focus on the present moment, on what we
are capable of today, and forgive ourselves for not
being powerful, strong, wise, compassionate or loving
enough in the past.
When you look at the past what do you see? All of the
mistakes you made or a variety of lessons and
learning experiences? When you look at the present,
what is there? Unlimited potential or another
opportunity to make mistakes? And what about the
future? When working with the universal energy, there
is no future, there is only the present moment. For
what we do in each moment creates the possibilities
in the next moment. This means that we are
challenged to stop focusing on the past if we expect
the present and future to be different. The most
powerful moment is the present, where we have
complete freedom to create whatever we want. This
week, make a point to focus on the present moment,
on what is happening in and around you. When you
learn to focus on the present moment, you open the
door to the unlimited abundance and boundless
opportunities that it holds for you.

Controlling or In Control?
Some people tell me that I am a little controlling. And I
would have to agree that they could view my actions in
that way. But what they see as being 'controlling', I see
as being in control of my life, by selecting what I allow
in my reality and having strong boundaries. Those
people who think I am controlling know that I have little
tolerance for those who are interested in abusing my
time and energy. And since I know that I have control
over the lessons that I experience, I choose which
lessons I will participate in.
For many years, I did what I thought others would find
acceptable, tried to be a 'nice' person by meeting
others' needs and did what I thought others wanted
me to do. Not only did it make me unhappy, it also
eroded my power until I looked at my life one day and
realized that I didn't even know who I was any more
and I was doing a lot of things that I did not want to do.
As soon as I changed my behavior, everyone who had
expected me to behave and react towards them in
the 'old' ways thought that I was being controlling
because I said 'no' more often, had less time for them
and put up strong boundaries to control the behavior
that people engaged in while they were around me.
There were two results to my 'taking control' of my life.
One was that I created more joy for myself because I
was not living on behalf of other people. The other
was that many people walked out of my life, some
quite suddenly, because they thought I was too
controlling. But I had not become controlling, I had
simply decided to be in control. After all, it was my life
and if I wasn't in control, who would be? Over time, I
made new friends, some of the old ones decided they
could tolerate my new behavior and others simply
went their own way.
How would you describe yourself, controlling or in
control? I believe the difference is that when we are in
control, we are managing our reality in our own way.
Our objective is not to control someone else's life but
to manage our own. When we are in control of our
own reality, we do not allow others to abuse our time
and energy. We have strong boundaries that let others
know what kinds of behavior we will and will not
tolerate. And we allow our gifts and talents to shine,
which is what we came here to do.

Uriel's Message--Surrender to Love
Every situation has multiple aspects that give a
different meaning to it. You can see these different
aspects according to your level of spiritual growth and
understanding and, more importantly, according to
your willingness to look at everyone and everything in
your life with unconditional love. When you look at all
situations with love you remove judgment and this
allows you to have a much larger perspective on
everything. Love allows you to know, to see into the
heart of everything and to understand the truth.
Surrender to love to understand the secrets of the
universe.
When the past is viewed from love all of the hurt and
pain that were experienced have different meanings.
They can be seen from the perspective of the soul's
lessons and karmic journey. An angry spouse,
abusive
parent, difficult childhood or relationship takes on a
different perspective when you surrender to love. The
experiences may have been difficult but there is
greater understanding and a glimpse into the truth.
When you ask your questions will be answered if you
ask from love.
The present moment is unfolding as each thought
and experience manifests in your reality. When you
have surrendered to love and embraced it as the
primary energy in your life you create your reality
without fear. This allows you to walk along your
spiritual path with confidence and trust. You can
manifest effortlessly because you are connected to
Source, to the universal energy, when you are walking
in love.
Each person has come here to learn to reconnect,
remember who they are and that they came from love
and their journey home is simply a return to the love
that they once knew and have simply forgotten. It is
part of everyone's journey, including that of
Lightworkers. As each person learns to embrace and
surrender to love they will spread the energy of love
around the planet, raise the vibrations of the earth and
of all of humanity and bring the love, peace, joy and
abundance of heaven to earth for everyone.

Today's Children--How Many Steps Backward?
Being the parent of Indigos, I understand the
frustration that parents write to me with when they feel
that they Indigo children go through the same lessons
over and over again. And each time it is as though they
are experiencing them for the first time. They never
seem to learn anything, no matter how much trouble
or how difficult the previous time was. And each time
they are hurt, angry or even surprised by the
experience, it's like it happened for the first time,
although it may be the third or tenth. How many steps
backward do Indigos have to take before they learn
their lessons?
There is no straight answer to that question, just as
there are no standards for Indigos and their behavior.
It really depends on the child and on the situations.
They don't learn from certain situations and seem to
repeat them over and over again because they are so
sure that the next time will be different that they don't
remember how difficult it was the previous time. I
remember my older Indigo son seeing a girl who
treated him badly but he kept going to her. Finally, after
I had a long talk with him, he acknowledged that the
needed to stop talking to her. But if I had not insisted, I
think he would still be going back and forth with her.
What causes Indigos to do this? They already have
low self esteem and this would seem to make that
issue worse and in many ways, it does. After a while
they begin to realize that they are failing at making
something work and this realization allows them to
pay attention to what they are doing. Once they reach
that point, they can be reasoned with and talked to so
we can help put them back on track. But, as we know,
they have to reach that point by themselves.
The most frustrating part of Indigo energy is that they
don't ask for help until they absolutely need it (and by
then it's almost too late) or until they have depleted all
of their resources and have no time, energy, often
money or effort left. Then it takes a long time to put all
of the pieces back together, including their shattered
self-confidence. As parents of Indigos, we have to be
aware of what is going on with them and learn to ask
the right questions, pay attention to the answers and
remind them that if something fails once, it is
generally a good sign that it is not right for them and it
is OK to move on.
