This week's messages
Co-Creating the World
While it may appear that we have good and bad times,
are happy or sad, rich or poor, in partnership or alone
and these events just seem to mysteriously happen,
we co-create every aspect of our lives with every
thought, word and action. And while our lives may
seem insignificant when compared to those of the
billions of other people on the planet, every thought,
word and action that we have is reflected in the world.
We co-create the world just as we co-create our own
reality. There is no difference between the small world
we call our reality and the larger world that is the
planet and all of humanity.
Take a minute, as you are reading this newsletter, to
consider that the thoughts that you have, right now,
about you, your life and your reality are being
magnified around the world. Each of us has this ability
and each of us uses it every day, whether we are
aware of it or not. How does it work? Have you ever
had a bad day and it seems that everyone you meet
has decided that this is the day they will pick on you?
Clerks are rude, your friends don't have time for you,
you're late to everything, you spill your coffee on your
new outfit. You are simply co-creating your bad day in
the world and everyone around you is picking up on
your energy and mirroring it back to you.
Once we are aware of this power, we must also
embrace the tremendous responsibility that comes
with it. It can no longer be 'someone else's fault' that
the world is in chaos, that there is hatred,
discrimination and poverty. We may not have
materially participated in the problems, but if it is our
belief that things can't get better, that we cannot make
a difference, that we are helpless and powerless, that
prevents change from happening. The power for
change is and has always been with us.
We co-create the world as we co-create our own
reality, so we don't have to drop everything and focus
just on making the world a better place. There is
no 'better' in the Universe, there is merely our energy
reflected back to us. All we have to do is each create
our own 'heaven on earth' and allow that energy to be
magnified around the world. Think of what the world
would be like it each of us did that for an hour, a day or
all of the time. We would not have to work at getting rid
of the darkness-the darkness only exists to magnify
the light. When we shine our light, the darkness is
absorbed into it and all becomes light. This week,
remember that you are co-creating the world and your
task is to create heaven on earth in your life. Make it
happen for a few minutes and enjoy the feeling of
peace, joy and unconditional love that goes with it. And
know that you just created that for the world.

Taking Ownership
As I was leaving the grocery store yesterday I
overheard a nearby couple's conversation. The
woman had asked the husband, in an expectant tone,
if he wanted to go to a friend's house for dinner that
night. He said 'no', very abruptly. She asked him why
not and proceeded to find different reasons why they
should go to the friend's house. He said 'no' again
and walked away.
The woman saw me and smiled sadly, obviously
disappointed and hurt. I had a feeling that she and her
husband had many of these kinds of conversations.
She would probably have had a different response
from her husband if she had asked the question in a
different way. Instead of telling her husband what she
wanted, the woman asked him what he wanted to do,
hoping that he would want the same thing she did. But
she didn't do that and his reply reflected his thoughts
at the time and what he wanted to do.
My advice to this woman would be to take ownership
of what she wanted by making her wishes known
when she asked a question. We all step lightly when
we ask things of others because we don't want to be
disappointed or rejected. So we juggle how to get
what we want without really asking for it. Or we ask in
a way that protects us from rejection, especially if we
anticipate that the answer may not be what we want to
hear. What is greater, our fear of rejection or our fear
of not getting what we want?
When we take ownership of what we want we have
more choices because we give others enough
information to let them know what is important to us.
They can agree with us or not, that is not important.
Because we have stated what we want it becomes a
choice in the matter and the other person has to
consider it. Then we have a choice, based on their
answer, on how we will move forward. And taking
ownership allows us to step into our power and not
wait for others to agree with us. This week, consider
how you take ownership of what you want. Do you ask
questions in a way that hides what you want? Try
taking ownership and give yourself more options to
get what you want in life.

Uriel's Message--What Do You Expect of Others?
You can learn about enlightenment from many
teachers, each of whom may have experienced some
form of enlightenment and want to share it with others.
Their motives are good and there are people that they
will help along this path. But others will not see the
results that they expect and will feel that they have
missed something or worse, are not capable of
enlightenment. There are many paths of
enlightenment, many levels and each of you is on a
different course. There is no single definition of
enlightenment and no single experience of it. And you
can have many experiences of enlightenment every
day.
Enlightenment is not always a single moment of
connection, where the answers to all of your
questions become known in an instant. While this can
happen it is often a more gradual process that occurs
over different experiences. If you are looking for this
single instance of awakening, of knowing the light, you
may miss the many opportunities that you have to
confirm your progress because they come in the form
of smaller and less obvious blessings. And you may
spend a lifetime believing that you have not achieved
your goal.
Each time you acknowledge your power, learn a
lesson, practice compassion and kindness with
others, you have achieved enlightenment. Each time
you forgive yourself and others you have achieved
enlightenment. These are soul level victories over
lessons that you may not have been able to
accomplish in prior lifetimes. To be enlightened is to
move closer to the light, to raise your vibration, to
strengthen your Source connection and to remove the
layers of karma that have been burdens for many
lifetimes.
Others' experience of enlightenment may help you but
their experience cannot be yours. You will arrive at
each stage of enlightenment in your own way. When
you do, you will have another opportunity to move
forward to yet another level. Each enlightenment
experience will give you greater understanding and
peace. You will know that the key to enlightenment is
understanding that you are a divine being whose
human journey has a purpose, not a destination,
which is to bring greater waves of light to humanity.

Today's Children--Giving Them the Keys
As parents we want our children to be happier, more
accomplished, less afraid and happier than we were.
We do our best to give them everything that they need
to accomplish this. So it's frustrating that, despite our
best efforts, they ignore the understanding and
lessons that we try to share with them and go on their
own way, often repeating the lessons we learned and
tried hard to help them avoid. We did this with our own
parents and our children's children will probably do
the same thing. With Indigos and Crystals, we feel that
we have a responsibility to prepare them more
carefully and give them more opportunities. We can do
that but we can't give them our keys to understanding
in the hope that they will use them to avoid pain and
unhappiness.
My three children have each gone through periods
where they seemed to abandon everything I taught
them and went their own way. As I watched their lives
spiral out of control I had two prayers-that they would
not die or go to jail and that they would eventually
come out of it. And they did, in their own time. When I
said to them 'I told you that would happen' their reply
was that they didn't think it would be so hard. Both
Indigos and Crystals have to experience life in their
own way and learn things for themselves. We can give
them information but our keys, what we have learned,
is only useful to them after they have already tried life
in their own way.
Many parents write to me feeling that they have
somehow failed as parents because their children are
in trouble, on drugs, failing in school, or have chosen
a lifestyle that is so much different from what they had
taught them. I reply that this is what these children do
and that they will eventually find their way. We can give
them all of the information we have but they have a
sense that they are different, that things won't turn out
the same way for them and that they can fix or change
anything. Sometimes they can and they succeed,
other times they try their own way and then come
home, glad to have a safe place to return to.
In their minds, our experience is valuable and
applicable to us and it doesn't apply to them. Once
they see the value of our keys of wisdom, usually after
they have had a difficult experience, they are ready to
give our advice a second look. And so it goes. There is
no way around this and when they are in their learning
phase all we can do is pray and wait. They do
eventually come around and they see us as much
wiser than they thought and then they are ready to
listen to us. Until they do, we can share all we want
but they will only take what they think is applicable to
them, until they have learned (on their own) that it is.
