I remember when toys consisted of bicycles, board games, comic books, Barbie dolls and GI Joe. If we were bored with those we played outside. How times have changed. Today's children have an amazing array of toys to choose from, many of them designed as multi media learning tools. Indigos love these games and I remember when we got our first Nintendo. My Indigos were mesmerized with it and could spend hours playing Super Mario Brothers. These video games were an important aspect of this generation's growth and a learning tool for them.
 
Video games were introduced at the same time the Indigo generation was old enough to begin playing them. The best part of these games were the way they could teach coordination, interaction and starting and completing a process. Unfortunately many of the games were violent, focused on fighting, killing and conquering the 'enemy'. This is not the best use of the Indigo energy and for some Indigos, can create a false sense of reality and a focus on some of the more difficult aspects of their energy.
 
An Indigo who is frustrated with their life can vent their frustrations in a video game and spend hours, even days, playing them. With online games they can join thousands of other players, which provides a unique level of interaction and connection. But some cannot see the difference between the reality of their lives and that of the video game. And they can get so involved with the game that it becomes their reality. Violent game content can be harmful and these games can become addictive without monitoring and the right perspective. Too much of anything is harmful to an Indigo, especially when it keeps them focused within themselves and can bring out their anger and addictions.
 
It is hard for parents to know what to choose for their children and keeping them away from video games is not possible, they will just play them at their friends' homes. As Crystal children are old enough to play video games, there will be a shift in their focus. My Crystal grandson thinks many video games are 'scary' and doesn't want to play them, he prefers quieter games with more of a learning focus. They will create a shift in the nature of toys and will want those that focus on learning and interacting in more peaceful, non-violent ways. We may even return to the old fashioned toys we knew as children as future generations will find joy in the simple things and use their imagination as part of their play, just as we used to.
