The Relevance of the Past

The past is part of our lives; nothing can change it or make it different. No matter how much we regret what we have done or has happened to us in the past, there is nothing that we can do to make it happen any differently. A happy memory of the past can make us smile; a painful memory of the past can, even after many years, bring us to tears. Unfortunately it is usually the painful memories of the past that we remember most often. The painful memories are the ones that have the power to paralyze us with fear, to rack us with guilt, to haunt us daily. If we do not learn to control our memories of the past, they can and will control us and our future.

Without attention, the past can easily write the script for our future because what we focus on becomes our reality. So if we focus our attention on the inequities, pain, hardships, disappointments and unpleasantness of the past, it becomes our experience in the present and the future. As we remember the past, we need to ask ourselves two questions: 'what did it mean to me then' and 'what does it mean to me now'? This helps us establish a sense of relevance about the past that will help us heal it and put it in its proper place, in the past so that it no longer has a place in our present or our future.

Looking at the past in terms of what it meant to us then can help us give it a different meaning, one that takes it out of the past and brings it to the light of the present. We must look at our mindset, our choices, our abilities at that time, to put the past into perspective. It does us no good to remember the past with today's viewpoint-we are a different person now than we were then, mainly because of what we learned from our past experiences. Then, we must look at what the past means to us now. Is it still relevant or important? How much of our present have we allowed it to influence? Do we still want to do that? Is it time to let it go?

When we work to heal the past we have to look at its relevance to us so that we can understand the experience within the framework of who we are today instead of who we were days, months or even years before. When we can put the past into perspective we can begin the process of healing it, realizing that we will always remember what has happened to us, we cannot change it, but we can make the future different. Our task, in the Shift, is to learn to live in the 'now,' in the present moment and when we do that, the past must remain in the past because there is no place for it in the 'now.'

Blessings to you all!

The February article is posted on the Uriel Heals website and this month's message is about how to remember the past. In this week's article, the issue of the relevance of the past is addressed. When we review the past, we have to look at what it meant to us then and when it means now because when we learn to live in the Now, there is no room for the past. This week's Today's Children article discusses the opinionated generation and how Indigo and Crystal children use their incredible determination to get what they want.

Trying to do Good
It is human nature to want to help others, especially when they are experiencing difficulties, having problems with their lives or going through something that we just completed or have some experience with. We feel that, by helping, we can ease the process for them, make the situation less difficult and that they will benefit from our own experience. But these efforts often backfire on us and can get us involved in situations that can draw us into another's 'stuff' so that we can go from being finished with a lesson to being right back into it. That doesn't mean that we have to avoid doing good for others, just that we have to be careful of how we help others and what we do for them.

When we try to 'do good' for others we place ourselves on shaky ground because it can become difficult to separate ourselves from their needs. Depending on the situation that they are in, someone who is going through a difficult time can become extremely needy and dependent on us. We can then go from being the 'shoulder to cry on' to being the one who does all of the work to get them through the experience. Then they can turn from being happy for our help to being demanding, needy and even angry if we cannot meet their needs and help them get through their situation. Our attempts to do good can then create an endless cycle of need that can make our own lives difficult.

Many people who are going through the Shift experience are facing difficult and traumatic life changes that can change them dramatically. So a once strong person can become extremely helpless; someone who was once very capable is suddenly incapable of doing even the simplest tasks. When we offer to help, we suddenly become their resource and that puts us in a situation that can quickly spiral out of control. That doesn't mean that we have to stop trying to do good, just that we need to choose what we are willing to do for others and learn that we have limits as to how much we are able to help someone.

Just as we have gone through our own Shift experience and felt all of its fears and uncertainties, everyone today is going through a similar trial. They are just experiencing it in a different way. Our ability to share our spiritual understanding with them is the best help that we can give them. This way, we stay out of their 'stuff' and we help them to learn the lessons that they need to, so that they don't have to repeat the lesson. Sometimes, someone's lesson is to learn to do something by themselves and if we are always there, trying to do good, we are merely delaying the inevitable. Sooner or later, they will have to learn to do it alone, without help, without someone holding their hand, looking over their shoulder, or doing the work for them. So the next time you are tempted to 'do good' for someone, think carefully about what you are getting yourself involved in and consider the route of compassionate assistance, sharing your spiritual understanding, instead of doing the work for them.

Uriel's Message

Despite your best efforts, it is impossible to make someone see things your way. Everyone has a unique perspective on the world that is a combination of their life experiences, beliefs, energetic vibration and spiritual understanding. They also have free will, which they can use to change, or not, according to their abilities. And everyone is able to advance spiritually at their own pace and within their own timing. While that can change from day to day, it is an individual's choice as to when, and if, it happens.

As spiritual teachers, this can be very frustrating for you because when you know the Truth that will set people free from their fears and doubts, will help them along their spiritual path and raise their vibrations, you want to share the information with them. When you do, they may or may not be receptive to it. That does not mean that they you did not convey the information well or do not understand it yourself. It just means that they are not ready, not willing and they cannot see the situation your way.

The role of a teacher is to convey information and the role of the student is to absorb the information and process it in a manner that makes sense to them Your focus on learning information in a certain way, as you did in school, leads you to believe that if a student cannot repeat the information back to you, they either have not learned anything or the teacher did not do a good job. But, this is a different time and spiritual understanding is a different matter.

Each of you is becoming an individual, instead of trying to fit into a mold that was pre-determined by someone else. This is a time of new beginnings for all of humanity, a time to appreciate your differences knowing that these differences give you a unique perspective on the world. Trying to make someone see things your way is a futile effort because as teachers you will also learn from each person with whom you share your knowledge, as well as imparting your knowledge. You will miss this learning if your focus is on trying to make others see things your way. Instead, remember that they will always have their unique perspective on the world, one which you can enrich by sharing what you know and letting them proceed at their own pace.

Today's Children--The Opinionated Generation

The new article on today's children is now available on the website. This month's article is about the truth that these children are revealing to us about ourselves, our lives and our world. This generation is known by many names, including Indigo and Crystal Children, Star Children, Light Children. Whatever name they are known by, they are a generation that we have never seen before and they have special needs, gifts and talents. The Crystal and Indigo children represent the new, higher energetic patterns that are arriving to change the Earth's vibrational frequency. This new series provides information on these children and the wonderful gifts they bring to the world.

As the parent of two Indigos and a Crystal child, I have always been amazed at how opinionated my children were and how differently they expressed their opinions. My Indigo son and daughter were always loud and rebellious-they knew how they wanted things to work or how things should be and were not willing to compromise. They were highly critical of my mistakes (or what in their eyes were mistakes) and did not hesitate to tell me about them. My Crystal child was less vocal and more understanding and gentle, but even more determined-he knew exactly what he wanted and would accept no less, even as a little baby when he insisted on being put to bed when he was tired, with the light off and door shut-no rocking chair time or night light for this child!

Although I was a parent who set boundaries about parental respect and talking back, I often thought that I would never have dared speak to my parents the way my children spoke to me (although I probably thought about it) when they disagreed with me about something. And this is the nature of Indigo and Crystal children. Indigos are here to break systems, so they came equipped with a strong sense of who they are, of what is right and wrong and an even stronger sense of intolerance for what does not fit those parameters. They are fearless and willing to change the systems that do not work for them. Crystals, who are still young, are as determined as Indigos but express their opinions less rebelliously but with as much determination. The strength of their opnion lies in their unshakable sense of who they are and their connection to their Source. It is almost impossible to force a Crystal child to do something that they do not want to do. And trying to will only result in angering them and worse, in deflating their spirits.

The parents of Indigos and Crystals were raised in environment where children had little power, and were not expected to have opinions, much less express them. But this generation is very opinionated and needs opportunities to both express their opinions and then have an opportunity to work with them. Many do so on the Internet, some write books and others create causes to give a voice to what they believe is important. Instead of stifling their opinions, we should remember that they came to clear a path for new energies and they are opening our eyes to the fact that we accept many things in our lives without question. Well, Indigos are here to question and to start the changes and Crystals are here to cement them and they will do their work, with or without our help. We can make this transition easier by working with them and their unique energies (once we get over the shock!) and help them with their task. They will, in turn, help open our eyes to the systems that need to be changed, to what we accept without question, so that we work together to allow these new energies to do their work.
