The Spiritual Vacuum
Many years ago, while going through a difficult part of
my life, I dreamed that I went to see God in his office.
I sat at his desk and complained about my life, how
difficult it was, how unhappy I was and how I felt that
he was not helping me at all. God listened patiently for
a few minutes and then put me in the waiting room. I
was so upset that I woke up crying, feeling that even
God had abandoned me. A few days later, while at the
grocery store, I found a small book about God's waiting
room and it gave me the answers I needed to change
my perspective on my life.
The waiting room was my opportunity to reflect on how
I had created the spiritual vacuum that I was in, that
place where I was confused and felt powerless to
change my situation. It is a difficult place to be but
one that we put ourselves in when we lose sight of our
path and focus only on what has happened to us on
our journey, instead of what our journey is about.
When we are in a spiritual vacuum we forget that we
are spiritual beings having a human experience and
forget our power, our connections and the help that is
available to us.
When we are in a spiritual vacuum we feel lost, alone
and afraid. We look for someone or something to show
us the way or to let us know that we are moving in the
right direction. Instead of going within for the answers,
we look for signs from others that we are going to be
fine once the situation is over. We then have a choice-
we can close our eyes and hope that it will be over
soon or we can ask for help and guidance and then
move forward with confidence, knowing that we are in
control of our reality.
Sometimes we use the spiritual vacuum experience to
remind us of how powerful we are. But that only works
if we are able to find and connect with our power. Too
often, it only reinforces the belief that we are alone
and helpless. The spiritual vacuum is a stepping stone
on our journey, a place where we can arrive at spiritual
clarity and connect to our true purpose. When we are
in the spiritual vacuum and ask for help, it can come in
many ways, as mine did, but we have to trust that help
is available to us. And we have to do the work to move
ourselves out of the vacuum once the help is given.

Are you Willing?
I have been remodeling my kitchen for several months
and the dust and inconvenience have been very
challenging. But each small success, like finally having a
stove and sink again, reminds me of why I am doing
this and that the result will be worth the effort. A
friend of mine, after seeing my new kitchen, decided
that she would remodel her kitchen too. She got
estimates, picked out the new fixtures, found a
contractor and then cancelled her plans because she
was not willing to do the work and live with the
inconvenience, even though it would be temporary.
My friend would like to make changes in her life but she
is not making them because she is not willing to do the
work they require. She even jokes about it, telling me
that she knows she would be happier and enjoy her life
more if she were able to make these changes. But she
can't make herself begin. When she asks me for advice
I give it but we both know that it is her unwillingness
to do the work that stands in the way of her ability to
manifest change.
We can have anything we ask for as long as we are
willing to do the spiritual work that is required to
change our lives and bring the healing that we wish for.
But if we are not willing to do the work we cannot
expect anything to change. The work may be anything
from changing our perspective to stepping into our
power to believing in our own perfect health. There
may be some disruption and discomfort in our lives or
not-healing is not always a difficult process.
Sometimes it is our willingness to do the work that
allows change to occur. Being willing is confirmation of
our faith and trust and is sometimes enough to allow
the Universe work with us to bring abundance, peace,
joy and unconditional love into our lives.
When we are willing to do the work we tell the Universe
that we are ready for change, that we are open to new
ways of experiencing our lives and are willing to see
ourselves in a different light. When we are not willing to
do the work, we acknowledge that we are not ready
for these things. Our fears, beliefs, values or ability to
connect with our power will stand in the way of our
healing until we are willing to do the work to create
change in our lives. This week, ask yourself if you are
willing to do the work. Can you step aside from your
fears and beliefs and just be willing to do the work?
Step out in faith and see what happens.

Uriel's Message-Live Powerfully
Whether you believe that you have power or not, you
use your power every day. Everything that exists in
your reality is there because you used your power to
create it. Take a moment to consider everything that
you enjoy and appreciate in your reality-you used your
power to create it. Now take a moment to consider
everything in your life that you do not like-you used
your power to create that too. There is no separation
between good and bad or right and wrong in the
Universe. Everything that is in your reality is there
because you used your power to put it there. Does
your reality reflect powerful living?
Having a position of power on the material plane is not
the same as living powerfully. Your power comes from
within and is part of your spiritual heritage. You can
use your power consciously or unconsciously, with
intention or from habit and create joy or pain in your
life. Your power is part of you and whether you are
aware of it or not, it is always available to you. The
results you achieve are based on how you use your
power. You cannot use too little or too much of your
power as your source of power is infinite. When you
use it with intention and focus you energize your life
and achieve powerful results. Living powerfully means
applying your power to every aspect of your reality, to
ensure that it is exactly what you want.
Living powerfully also means using your power wisely
and taking responsibility for all of your thoughts, being
fully aware of how they create your reality. If you
choose to think powerful thoughts, focusing on what
you want in your life, you will create those things. If
you fall into despair and hopelessness you are using
your power to create a reality that reflects those
thoughts. Feeling powerless is an illusion that is not the
truth for you. You are never powerless, you have
simply forgotten how much power you have or you did
not use it wisely. When you live in fear, doubt and
confusion, you are not living powerfully.
The Universe responds to your every thought, even the
ones that you do not want to manifest in your reality.
Live powerfully and remember that each thought is
important and each carries unlimited power. Use your
power to choose the lessons you wish to experience
and the ways you can experience them. It is your
choice to live powerfully, to manifest the life of your
dreams, to honor your gifts and use your power to
create the opportunities to express them. When you
live powerfully you spread your light in the world and
create a powerful life for yourself.

Today's Children--Those Who Choose Illness
A friend of mine has a son who is a bright and talented
Indigo and he is dying of complications from cerebral
palsy. It is not a condition he was born with; he
contracted it after a lengthy illness and high fever. His
condition has both devastated and blessed his family.
His mother struggles with knowing that her son will not
grow up to have a family of his own and this brings her
great pain. The other children in the family have had to
adjust their lives to accommodate his condition and
everyone is aware that each day may be the last one
they spend with him.
Instead of resenting his physical condition, he is
cheerful and greets each new day with a smile. He
loves watching sports, playing video games and going
to school. Although he cannot physically participate in
the sports he loves, he has an encyclopedic knowledge
of every player and game statistic. He cannot speak
but signs rapidly when he has something to say and he
says a lot. He participates in the Special Olympics and
is overjoyed when anyone on any team scores a point.
What is the message that these children have for us?
Did they really choose a path that will end long before
they have an opportunity to follow what we consider to
be a normal life path, starting a family, developing a
career and living a long life? It is difficult for us to
imagine that any soul could have chosen the path of
illness and suffering, but some do. And their path allows
them to work with many people in profound ways.
These children connect with others on a different level
and open them to compassion, sharing and
understanding in a very special way.
Everyone who meets this boy is touched by his smile,
intelligence and ability to enjoy every moment of his life
in spite of his physical condition. After meeting this
young man, a friend of mine remarked that he had
nothing in his life that he could complain about and
gained a new perspective on joy. The family will be sad
when he dies but for the present moment they are
blessed by his presence and he has taught them, and
teaches everyone he meets, a great deal about love,
selflessness, living in the moment, appreciation and joy.
Indigos and Crystals who choose physical infirmity and
illness as their life path have a special purpose and
they touch the lives of everyone they meet. If you
have a child who has chosen this path, know that they
have indeed chosen a special path for their lifetime and
their work is done through their illness. It doesn't
matter how long they are here, they will stay until their
work is completed and then they will leave, having
blessed everyone they met with their special energy.
