Is This Right For Me?
A few years ago I attended an event that featured a
well-known spiritual teacher who taught about
enlightenment. The event was sold out and many
people were anticipating what they would learn. I left
early because I did not connect with his teachings.
When a friend asked me about my early departure I
told her that I was uncomfortable and it wasn't right for
me. She said that she wasn't comfortable either but
wanted to stay just in case something happened. It
had not occurred to her to leave because she didn't
feel right about his teachings.
As we go through our healing journey the process can
be painful and we can look for teachers to help us.
Sometimes these teachers are helpful and we can
learn from them. Other times they can lead us in a
direction that is not right for us. That experience can
be part of our lesson too, to learn discernment and to
choose the teachers that we feel right about. No one
is going to make the process happen any faster-
there are no shortcuts to enlightenment.
Enlightenment is a process of learning and
clarification. So each time we learn a lesson, we are
enlightened. Each time we face and overcome a fear,
we are enlightened. The process can happen with
anyone we connect with. Even people who we believe
have no spiritual background can be our greatest
source of enlightenment. And we can choose our
teachers by asking ourselves whether what they have
to offer us is right for us. If not, we can find another
teacher.
There are many teachers who will come into our lives,
each one has something to offer us. When we
remember that this is our journey, that we gain clarity
through our own learning, we choose teachers who
will participate in that process. But each teacher's
input is participatory-they cannot give us what we
cannot create for ourselves. Asking whether
something is right for us allows us to choose the path
to enlightenment that is best for us. And to do so in a
way that feels right. This week, take a look at who you
believe helps you on the path to enlightenment. Do
you feel right about the information? Are you finding
clarity, is it comfortable or confusing? If not, step into
your power and choose another teacher. The process
is yours to control and when it is right for you, it feels
right, you gain clarity and are at peace with the
process.

Whose Lesson Is It?
As Lightworkers we are kind to others and very
generous with our time, gifts and energy. To the point
that sometimes we take on others' lessons. We do
this to be helpful, because we are familiar with the
process of healing and growth and want to be of
service. It is usually an unconscious gesture that we
may not realize we have done until we find ourselves
in the middle of a situation, usually dramatic, that
drains our energy and is painful and difficult. Then we
have to find a way out, which also becomes dramatic,
painful and difficult. And our efforts at being helpful
turn out to create more issues for ourselves and the
other people. But we can stop this process short by
asking whose lesson it is.
Several years ago I was caught up in a family drama
involving some of my cousins who came to me asking
for help with a problem. My participation escalated into
also becoming part of the solution until everyone
involved was angry with me and I wasn't even part of
the initial problem. But I took on the lesson because I
wanted to help and when it was all over, I had learned
several lessons. I learned to resist the urge to react, to
ask more questions, to see others as being powerful
and capable of handling their own issues. And to offer
support without becoming involved in others' lessons.
It is easy to become involved in others' lessons,
especially if they are being mistreated or abused in
some way. There is a big difference, though, between
being helpful and helping, between offering advice
and becoming responsible for the solution. The more
powerless someone appears the more we feel
compelled to step in and take over. But everyone has
the same amount of power and often these types of
lessons help them realize and reconnect to it. We can
steer them in that direction without taking on their
lessons.
We know when we are involved in someone else's
lessons when the situation doesn't feel right, when
we become the one who is doing the work and as in
my case, everyone suddenly turns against us. As
Lightworkers we can be of assistance to everyone but
we don't have to do their work. The best gift we can
give others is to remind them that they are powerful, to
offer guidance and support and then stand aside
while they find their own solutions. Then they will learn
their lessons, have an opportunity to experience the
use of their power and know that they are capable of
handling their own lessons. And we will maintain our
boundaries and share our light without creating more
lessons for ourselves.

Uriel's Message-- Why Ask Why?
You ask 'why' of situations that you do not understand,
where you are hurt, angry or disappointed. You
ask 'why' of things that happened in the past, of things
that you feel powerless about or cannot change. You
ask 'why' of people who are unkind or disrespectful,
who treat you badly or who are not supportive. This is
the ego's way of keeping you in the past, of showing
you where you failed and of preventing you from
moving forward. 'Why' is the question that the ego
asks; spirit does not care about 'why' because it does
not matter. Spirit is always moving forward' 'why' is
part of the past.
Spirit is ready to respond to questions like 'what did I
learn', 'what is the lesson for me' and 'what is the
most powerful path for me'. It is not concerned
with 'why' because it does not matter. There is no
answer to the question of 'why' something happened
because you are the creator of your reality. And only
you can know why you created the situations and
experiences that are part of your healing and growth.
Only you know the reason why and yet it is a question
you are constantly asking of the Universe.
You also ask others 'why' they do things that they do
and there is no answer for you. Each person acts
within the boundaries of their level of enlightenment
and karma. Until they are aware of these things they
do not think about what they are doing, they simply act.
They cannot give you reasons for their actions
because they do not know. Can you offer explanations
of everything that you do? Do you know why you
choose certain lessons, attract certain people and
create a specific life path and reality? If you ask 'why'
of others you must also be prepared to ask the same
question of yourself.
When you step into the energy of what is you will no
longer need to ask why. You will be comfortable with
the concept of perfection and will have no need for
explanation. Once humanity is ready to accept their
partnership with the Universe in creating higher levels
of consciousness there will be no reason to question
the past. Everyone will be living in the present moment
and the concept of the past will not exist. This means
that old fears, pain and abuses will no longer be part
of your thinking. Revenge and retribution will cease to
be causes for action and peace and joy will be
possible for all.

Today's Children--Indigos and Growing Up
My Indigo children took a long time to 'grow up' and
find their place in the world. And I didn't pressure them
to do that, knowing it would happen when the time
was right. Watching them struggle with different paths
and try to find one that suited them was difficult. And
true to their nature, they were not easy to deal with
during the struggle. The issue of 'growing up' is one
that all Indigos, adults and children, struggle with.
Some adult Indigos are just finding their path and they
have been searching their whole life. Maybe we need
to re-define the concept of 'growing up'.
Our parents taught us that we were grown up when
we were out of college, started a career, married and
had a family. That certainly has changed. I know many
people my age who don't fit any of those criteria. And
the 'growing up' label makes them feel like they have
failed in some way because they don't feel
comfortable within a standard career track, they have
never married or had children and some never went to
college. I believe that all Indigos find themselves
when they are ready to and that process involves
discovering their gifts and creating a path that allows
their expression in the best way possible.
Indigos came to change things and that started with
adult Indigos. We don't function well when we have to
live by others' standards and yet feel pressured to
meet them when our identity or our place in society
are at stake. While we may say that we don't care what
others think about us, in reality we do. And it is hard to
explain why we don't meet social standards when
someone asks us 'what do you do?' We can create a
different lifestyle or path and be comfortable with it
when we are asked to explain our choices.
The good news is that the standards are lifting and
things are changing. So many different career paths
and lifestyles options are now available that we can
become creative about the kind of work we do that
supports our lifestyle. Expressing our gifts in the best
way possible and finding joy in what we do is now
less a matter of doing what others expect us to do and
more about what we want to do. Our challenge then is
to be willing to step in the direction that we are guided
and be as creative as we can be. The possibilities are
unlimited and the Indigo energy is at its creative best
when it is allowed to create in an uninhibited way. I
think we are 'grown up' when we learn to be happy
with ourselves, express our gifts and find joy in every
day and everything. Maybe that can be a new standard
for living.
